I remember NYC before that woke RINO POS Lindsey...

A wonderful city... Safe... Reasonably priced... Sophisticated...
Carefully protected by the gangsters of Tammany Hall...
Harlem-China Town-Washington Square-even areas near Times Square...
Fun... Fun... Fun... (Drunk or sober)

"Kersey the vigilante is no longer possible."

Sure it's possible. The only reason we caught our serial killer in Seminole Heights a few months ago was because, believe it or not, he asked someone to hold his gun.

In the 1950s my cousin, older by 4 years and I collected war comics by artist Russ Heath, before he did Little Annie Fannie in Playboy. We hunted through used bookstores. One of them was on 43rd and 8th. Two kids, 11 and 15 could safely go into an 8th Ave bookstore. Oh there was the adult section but cordoned off. When my cousin tried to venture in the store owner had him by the neck and threatened to ban us from the store. That was NY in the 50s. Oh and the bookstore owner gave us a copy of an EC Sci Fi comic that had a most interesting story, Judgement Day. Said we should read it. Made this ten year old think about race for the first time.

Are the squeegee guys back?
These are the guys who wash your windshield with a squeegee when you’re stuck at a red light and then demand a payment or else they will vandalize your car. One of Mayor Giuliani’s first priorities was to get rid of the squeegee guys. If they are back in business, the New York City of the General Dinkins era is truly back!

But in the 1970s, despite all the violence, NYC was still a powerhouse of economic production. That went away well before the current crisis.
