I expect the waiting period was way too short. All executive orders are subject to legal challenges, and it’s likely the three companies said they would sue. Given that Biden is likely to reverse the order or not appeal even if the order is struck down by the courts, NYSE decided to say itself a bunch of legal fees and quietly reverse itself. Of course, if Trump manages to stay on for another 4 years, there’s plenty of time to delist these companies again.

I quite agree with you that a continuation of the post-World War II hegemony of the kind known to the United States is impossible, the world is turning over too fast now. And I also agree that any neo-conservative foreign policy that involves us in these hapless, debilitating wars will only hasten the eclipse of America.

I do not believe that China intends to dominate the world by fighting endless, enervating brushfire wars. Rather I think they see the world in wholly new terms, technological terms suggesting a whole new reality.

Their desire is not to physically occupy so much as it is to secure markets and royal resources.

For mega power they have space and cyberspace, for terrestrial power they have trade, technology and subversion. They will not attempt to physically occupy the United States, they will establish Quislings of whom there should be no shortage when one examines the Democrat party and most of our major institutions.

The ruthless monitoring of a subordinate, Quisling state given today's Google provided monitoring technology, should not be beyond China's growing capacity.

Technology is sweeping over us like a tsunami even as the way we see the world is being transformed. Forget the Judeo-Christian legacy and the Enlightenment, we have embarked on a new age of postmodernism in which relativism rules. It will rule, that is, until the left, whether Chinese or domestic in character, has full sway and then relativism will be discarded for absolutism.

And so it begins. How long before the media starts promoting forced child labor and slavery because it is practiced in China? I believe the public can be convinced of absolutely anything. They believe what they are told and disbelieve what they see with their own eyes. There is no longer a need to deny or hide anything.

Correction:

"Royal" resources should read "mineral" resources.

The original fault is with Dragon NaturallySpeaking voice recognition software the ultimate fault is with the proofreader.

The NYSE had better hope that Trump does not win. Because if he does then some of them are going to jail.

Lot of good stuff there, thank you. And I may address it later.
For now, though, I think getting the US out of it’s ‘Empirical’ obligations is key.

It’s not Post WW2 anymore but we pretend it is in our foreign relations. At least our rulers do.

Like every empire before us we will be devoured by our ‘allies’ and foes if we don’t withdraw- as President Trump has started.
If Kerry and his like have their way bureaucratic inertia will destroy us- as it has every other nation in this position throughout history.

I think this is THE existential issue facing America.

As I said, China cannot afford to replace our role (heck, we can’t afford to maintain it). They can only hope we foolishly spend our wealth on trying to maintain it.

An ancient goal as there can be.

Yeah, just what the US media of today want- what sells the most product. at the most profit.
But people don’t want the media to make the most profit. They want what’s best for them,. Not the same, though the media tries to make it appear so.

Yes, the election of Biden makes us a “Quisling state” of China.
No doubt.

But there are limits our Founders put upon this happenstance that may save us

Thank God the framers were up-to-date on Montesquieu and divided our government, separated powers, provided checks and balances and wonderfully contrived to create a self-righting ship of state, as you point out.

Beyond the checks and balances structured into the Constitution, we have the hope embedded in human nature. The Democrats will run true to their nature and, like a pack of ravening wolves at the kill, will turn on each other. They are likely to miss their chance but that is not a policy for us. We need a plan.

Assuming the loss of the Senate, our next whistle stop on the track to one party rule will be the election of 2022 when the Republicans, all things being equal (which they never are) have a real chance to take the House of Representatives. But will they have a "real" chance?

For years we have been decrying the bias of the media and recently we bemoaned the timidity of the Supreme Court and the shameful perfidy of the established Republican Party. I have been complaining about the absence of any major American institution to openly oppose the manifest corruption of this election. I do that in the context of asking how has all of this happened to us?

Yes, the Democrats stole the election because they could and because they knew that the media would cover for them and because they knew that many Republicans would waffle. Proof of this was the entire disgraceful crusade against Donald Trump during his tenure in office and, lately, the blatant censorship of big tech concerning the Hunter Biden affair. The Democrats could see that the Founder's system was breaking down.

Any dispassionate observer must conclude that our traditional system simply is not working. The safeguards implanted by the framers have been circumvented. The massive blatant fraud of the recent election and our institutional purblind abdication is evidence enough of that.

I think we misconceived the problem when we look at the trees rather than the forest. Every one of our institutions have abandoned rational commitment to right and wrong in favor of a new perverse doctrine of relativism which carries many names such as critical theory, critical race theory, postmodernism etc. The effect is devastating. But the media, clearly, is not alone as a malevolent force, the corruption has infected virtually every major institution.

My belief is that we cannot right this ship of state until we retrieve the commitment to the Judeo/Christian worldview tempered by the Enlightenment. That has been eclipsed entirely by a whole new epistemology which turned rational thinking on its head and renders constitutional conservatism irrelevant.

We have to sell absolute truth as just that, absolute. We have to redeem these institutions one institution at a time because we have reestablished rational thinking. To deal with the symptoms rather than the underlying cause is a losing game. We must understand and correct the way the enemy thinks.

“eclipsed entirely by a whole new epistemology which turned rational thinking on its head and renders constitutional conservatism irrelevant.”

Yeah, a lot there. But...

A revocation in 2022 would block the “Quisling state” government dealers in their tracks.

I find that most of our trouble comes from a US media that depends on ‘globalist’ advertisers for their money.
Our Founders certainly didn’t consider that, They thought our media would be parochial. But today’s media is a big money affair. And the US media is dependent upon very big international corporations for it’s advertising revenue, and for it’s stockholders’ returns.
That’s the error of our Founder’s system- one they could not have foreseen.

So we come down to “a levelling influence” that our Founders well recognized as evil.
Education and media have defied that.
But in everyday life it is apparent, and that repels attempts to deny it.

Interesting.

A few years ago, we had a sales person come in and start to pitch Huawei switch gear. I cut him right off and that stuff will never connect to our internal network.

We shall see within 24 hours whether we have any realistic hope in 2022 of blocking the Quisling state when we get the results out of Georgia.

If the left can continue such a brazen wholesale theft of elections then we know recovery in 2022 is probably beyond our immediate reach. The bad news is that the blatant theft of the national election and its participation by Georgia has not brought reaction enough to reform the Georgia election system. Right now it looks like we will get more of the same tomorrow. Incredible as that seems, with all the national attention on Georgia, how can the left risk a replay of November 3?

Because events have taught them that they will get away with it. I say that we are in this place because the left has so indoctrinated the country with this pernicious postmodern doctrine that they can do virtually whatever they want. They can spike the Hunter Biden story, they can absurdly redefine our language as they have just done even while praying in the House of Representatives, and they can actually lecture us with confidence that they will not be broadly contradicted when they assert that 2+2 does not equal 4. So thorough has their domination of our language and our thinking become.

When they steal our language and they steal our epistemology will they have not already stolen our liberty?

Tomorrow will tell us a lot about 2022.

Makes sense. Question is how we fight back. The old Apple 1984 commercial is not physically plausible but might be a useful metaphor. That was a kinetic weapon kind of like an exploding RV in a situation that seems to want a weapon made from ones and zeroes.

Another thing we need to do is overload their artificial so-called intelligence. It is incredibly brittle but can't be overloaded with bad data because it uses so much low quality data already and bad data is detectable. I think we need to develop very specialized poisons.

As with many Americans and the majority of Americans of my generation, the technical issues are beyond my ken.

I have a son studying computer science in University in Vienna who dreads my phone calls because he fears I will ask him what to do now that I have once again forgot my password.

But I have been around long enough to have seen the world turn over enough times to understand that the world is turning over at an accelerated rate and that due to technology. Our problem is that we are not equipping ourselves to win a new cold technological war. We are not graduating digital scholars nor are we graduating hard science scholars at a rate to match China.

All of this is but the symptom of our overall breakdown. We have squandered all our natural advantages, actually bankrupted ourselves, strangled the golden goose and perverted the institutions which have served us so well since 1789.

We have done all this to ourselves for many reasons, we got too fat but, worse, we also have committed an underlying failing that threatens to bring down the whole Republic: we have lost the war of rational thought. We have surrendered ourselves to postmodern relativism as we abandoned the reason of the Enlightenment. Until we regain our epistemology, we cannot hope to regain our edge.

If artificial intelligence is overloaded with bad data, it might take artificial intelligence to recognize it because we have come to a place as a society that cannot accept that 2+2 = 4.
