Going Galt.
I think of TVs as something to watch football games on. Basically because I am capable of free thinking
I’ll turn 59 ½ in March, I hope I have that long before the government decides to take that money as I expect them to. There’s just to big of a pot of money in retirement savings for them to not go after.
We went light on gifts this year and bought most of what we got in November.
have online sales figures come out for 4th qtr?
precursor:
https://www.digitalcommerce360.com/article/quarterly-online-sales/
“From July to September, consumers spent $199.44 billion online with U.S. retailers, up 37.1% from $145.47 billion for the same quarter the prior year, according to retail figures published Thursday by the Commerce Department.”
That may have to do with USPS last mile delivery, parcel shippers drop packages at the local post office for delivery to the customer, it’s been my experience that packages dropped at the local post office end up getting sent to the regional postal processing center then back to the local post office for delivery. The last time that happened to me it took an extra week to get a package that had been 3 miles from my house.
We did the same. We did get out more Christmas cards with more information than we had in prior years. It seemed more important to give more such insight because we were all so isolated from each other and we wanted to show how much we cared.
There's a UPS store not many more blocks from the Post Office. I'm going to start using them instead. My post office is the only one in this small city, and there is always a line out the door. That's why I've been using the post office's self-service kiosk so I don't have to stand in line. I don't wear a mask when I'm at the kiosk in the lobby. I'd rather give my business to UPS anyway. They didn't help rig the election that I know of.
“Mortgage rate for our first house was 14.625%. Eventually, the climbed to 17% or more. This was in 1980(?).’
That sounds about right.
Before that SOB Carter was elected, I paid 5200 bucks for a 4x4 GMC one ton pickup. I traded it in 1980 or so, and paid 4500 and my trade in to boot. 4 years, 4 years is just how long it took that asshole to destroy the economy.
I’m already starting to see it at my shop, production orders are slowing down, expected orders for machine builds and upgrades aren’t coming in.
Seems our customers are becoming hesitant to invest in their facilities or build up inventory.
Perhaps the edge of the financial cliff is a few inches away in the handbasket we’re speeding down the Highway To Hell in.
