This meshes with an earlier story where some locales have first refusal rights on foreclosures. I could see where some building owners could stop their losses by abandoning rental units, because they can't get money from them and in turn pay their bills.

The banks holding the mortgages would then own the housing units. Banks would foreclose, and in those locales the government buys the bad paper, thus owning the buildings. So, lost tax revenue, no money to pay utilities and upkeep, and those rental units become unlivable -- and the deadbeats leave.

Sucks for everyone, but I can see it happening.

Today I went down to the courthouse because they don’t answer their phones and I couldn’t get a new date to show up.

They are basically shut down. An @$$hole deputy confronts you before you even enter. He escorts you to “room 104” and you humbly ask for your new date.

You are escorted back out of the building. You can’t file any motions because the court clerk office is closed, unless you’re a lawyer and know a lot of legal tricks.

T his is not due process.
