It was Trump’s job to demand a refund. Local education was never his department but HE IS a disturber of the excrement. Let the teachers hate him-they do already.

Don’t bring reality into it. It might disturb some around here.

all those govt workers in schools getting full pay while the underlings paying them have to go on unemployment or have essential jobs that demand they keep going into work...

I've always said in my whole life I maybe have known 5 teachers that really loved their work and were dedicated to the children....5 only....

we’ve let school boards be filled with teacher associates who only work for the teachers....they do not protect the taxpayer....

I’ve been wondering a long time why taxpayers aren’t putting their school taxes in an escrow account until schools reopen.

I’m not a lawyer. There must be some legal reason.

It’s a legal reason, as in most taxpayers can’t afford the legal representation required to support paying their taxes under protest. Corporations, OTOH, have platoons of lawyers they pay who can go before tax boards to hash out property tax bills they have paid under protest. The protest does put the funds into escrow & unavailable to the various taxing entities (schools, etc.)

Then it becomes a negotiation about reducing the bill by some amount that justifies the cost of the protest. The tax-receiving entities also have to appear before the board in order to claim their slice of the pie. In one instance that I am aware of, a major utility in OK always paid under protest and it sometimes took years for the funds to be released once agreement was reached on the lower amount. In the meantime, the tax-receiving agencies did not get their slice until it was resolved so it was a cash-flow issue to them.

Just curious, does you wife and the rest of the NEA union members still draw their full salary?

She isn’t union thank God. She’s salary and has been working longer than ever to keep things running. All the normal contracts keep going, there are lots of contract adjustments for COVID, and there is quite a bit of additional workload from COVID.

"the funds should be refunded in the form of school vouchers to be used for private school tuition."

Right now, most of the school taxes being paid throughout the country, are a form of legalized robbery from the property owners, and being given to the leeches on the school payroll, in the very widespread cases where the school systems are on school district personnell annual, perpetual China Virus sick leave. All you want to do, patriot torch, is redirect the stolen tax money that was paid by the property owners, to the parents of the victim children who are missing their school education. There are many more theft victims involved than just parents of the affected "students". The school taxes should be terminated and refunded to the taxpayers that paid it. Fire the derelict teachers and administration politicians.

But I don’t think he has any power when it comes to tax issues. I’d suggest that you contact your school board instead.

Why?

We all know these dudes have no power!

I appreciate your thoughtful answer.

Since this has gone on so long with the schools, it’s probably a miracle that some public advocacy law firm hasn’t tried!

Thanks again. :)
