It was the wind. The ship lost its bearings. There weren't any tugboats. There were tugboats, but the wrong kind. Backup tugboats were then sent, but they too weren't powerful enough. There was one earth mover available. The U.S. military is offering aid. It's going to take days to solve. It's going to take weeks to solve. It could be solved by Wednesday. It was investigated. It's going to be investigated. It came from China. Its charted course depicts a vulgar image. It was the wind.

Sounds like Fauci is in charge.

Certainly Biden’s buds in the Forbidden City had a hand as well.

Why doesn't someone just blow the damn thing up and let traffic through?

It's just one boat.

Bet people would pay to see it blown to bits.

That would create an even bigger mess. Canal is less than 100ft deep.

Maybe they could hire the guys that blew up the whale in Washington or Oregon.

The "without evidence" leftist talking point doesn't apply.

Leftist talking point? Since when is it "leftist" to expect someone to present evidence for their assertions? Might as well claim it was UFOs if evidence doesn't matter.

Bloomberg reports the ship actually sped up as it rammed the bank.

Your linked Bloomberg story doesn't state that

"The ship’s last known speed was 13.5 knots at 7:28 a.m., 12 minutes before the grounding, according to Bloomberg data."

13.5 knots, in a canal, size and tonnage - no wonder

I'm calmly waiting for some Leftist talking head on CNN or MSNBC to declare that this accident was Trump's fault.

It's only a matter if time.

Leftist talking point?

The phrase "without evidence" is indeed used, ad nauseam, by the left when describing any stated truth by conservatives. It is a tell.

That you pretend not to know this is also a tell.

Typical formulation, of which there are hundreds of instances in "news" stories about Trump and conservatives in the last four years (google it yourself):

'Without evidence' Is A New Catchphrase At NPR

Trump says, without evidence, every American will get coronavirus vaccine by April

Trump, Without Evidence, Makes Vote Fraud Claims

President Trump says, without evidence, that Dr. Anthony Fauci is a 'democrat'

Your linked Bloomberg story doesn't state that

From linked Bloomberg piece: "Then there was the issue of how fast it was going. When the ship began to move toward the sand, it appeared to speed up, perhaps to correct itself, though it was too late and it almost collided with the bank. That served to then wedge the steel hull more deeply into the side of the canal."

Helicopters might not be able to lift all those loaded containers. Even if they could it would be a huge undertaking and very inefficient. If it were the only option, I suppose it could be done.

Maybe a temporary coffer dam to raise the water level?

The speculation regarding a deliberate use of the Evergreen ship to block the Suez Canal is all very interesting. With all the difficulties, it is still a temporary situation. Perhaps this is just a technical “dry run”, run aground in this case, to determine if blocking the canal IS possible, and how long will it take to correct.

More evidence of deliberate sabotage would come with a similar or even more destructive action at the Panama Canal. Then what? High prices certainly, but American Navy ships would be blocked from transferring between oceans, temporarily cutting the US Fleet in half. Who might benefit from that, I’ll let you guess.
