Do you really think Clay would have seen any combat? He would have done boxing demos for military brass. And he knew it.
I absolutely know Ali would have. He’d very fully established himself in the “uppity n...” category. If they were going to do boxing demos they would have approved his conscientious objector status. By not doing that it very much showed he wasn’t going to get special treatment.
