I have worn only 3M N95s when wearing a mask is required. I doubt anything less will protect you from a super spreader. That said, the fact that there has been little or no effort to make these masks widely available and to instead allow cheap Chinese surgical-style masks or designer cloth masks makes me wonder about the bonafides of the mask mandates. I also have an N100 mask but it has an exhalation valve which makes it taboo in some areas. My brother calls it an FU mask because clean air comes in and dirty air is released unfiltered.
