Sounds like Chauvin’s lawyers sucked.
Sounds like Cornelius Publius Tacitus in the Annals of Rome:
"Olim passi sumus a scelerisque, nunc nos pati a legibus."
("Formerly we suffered from crime, now we suffer from laws".)
Thoughts on immediate response tranquilizer darts for LEO?
The Judge was a major player in it. He is supposed to be impartial.
Have they filed for an appeal yet?
Pessima re publica, plurimae leges.
(When the republic was at its worst, there were the most laws.)
Seems to resemble our current situation.
Quoting Tacitus from memory so not sure if the wording is 100% accurate.
Lance Ito wasn’t available so he did the best he could.
You are correct.
Is it a given that Chauvin will get an appeal? I assume his lawyer will file for one, but can’t the appeals court just turn it down? (For reasons of public safety, of course...don’t want to provoke riots.)
“Sounds like Chauvin’s lawyers sucked.”
You mean lawyer, as in one. The one lawyer who the prosecution, who had about 4 lawyers and basically an unlimited staff, kept dumping tons of evidence on in the middle of the trial. I think he did about as good as humanly possible under the circumstances.
You got that right. Rittenhouse has had it. He may as start packing his bags. They will use the same tactics on him as they did on the cop.
I think the cop had zero idea that Floyd would die. I think he was thinking that he would restrain this hoodlum until the medics arrived. If the medics arrived after 3-4 minutes this never would have happened. This was involuntary manslaughter and the cop most certainly deserves punishment.
There can be a million reasons for appeal, but it will not be overturned. The Supreme Court probably not even take [hear] it. This is political. The politicians see it as keeping the cities from burning. We, in the good ole U.S. of A. are officially under mob rule. Enjoy.
It is the Communists way.
I haven’t heard. They may not have the money. It cost a lot of money to appeal a case. In Florida, only death penalty cases were automatically appealed.
One thing I thought was interesting is that from what I’ve seen no more details came out about any interactions the two may have had when they worked at the same place.
Chauvin and Floyd both worked part-time at the same club. Chauvin should have not gotten involved in the attempted arrest of Floyd. That was really stupid. Think I also read that they did not like one another, making Chauvin’s involvement even more stupid.
Right. I’m kinda surprised that that little factoid was flushed down the memory hole for some reason. Granted, I didn’t read much at all about the ‘trial’ because the result was a forgone conclusion, but I would have thought some mention would have been made of it.
I completely agree. Gutfeld is in the thick of it.
