In what universe? I have worked with both, and judging by your statement, I doubt you have experience with either..
My husband’s father wandered away from his residential care facility. It’s not uncommon. Dementia patients can be escape artists. He was found in a wooded area a few hours later with nothing worse than scratches. It could have been much worse, but thankfully he was found rather quickly by people who knew him.
They may not have jobs but at least they have the All Star Game.
You were in a different military in a different era. These are not the clean cut “stable” boys from the 50s and 60s anymore. Every one of them are crying shell shock. No back bone and a huge yellow stripe. They are afraid of their own shadow... They do not have the IQ level to figure out what is just and what is unjust. They only have the IQ to follow orders even if these orders are wrong. Welcome to the well trained government worshiping lap dogs.
Cousin Jimmy told me that when he was over there in Nam this was the IQ level that they made gunners. And he said this is why you never call in in fire support. Because just about every time they get the coordinates backwards and shell you instead of the coordinates of the enemy. IQ level has a LOT to do with this. And every LE dept has an IQ cap. Why? Because questioning why you should shoot first and ask questions later is not advantageous for them. Even if it is against U.S. Citizens.
As a military brat during Nam living on base I have stories. From the outside looking in. And it is not at all the same now.

in the universe where you scrape the bottom of the barrel to fill the ranks of the police force because 8 years of obama’s war on police has made every person with decent career options avoid a future in law enforcement like it was a lengthy prison sentence — because, just to watch the news, that’s EXACTLY what it is.

My friends’ Mom who had Dementia wandered off at 3am on a cold Texas night. This was in their home with two adults, or a caregiver at all times. She even had to go through their bedroom to get to the exterior door which had multiple locks.
About the time they discovered her missing, and called police, someone called to report they found an elderly woman in a nightgown heading down a hill towards a nearby creek.
Sure, some criminals are idiots and barely human. But the utter callousness exhibited towards this woman is unconscionable....
Let’s not get silly. Why are you dismissing and defending what these animals did, their behavior, and the assault they committed?
Looks like the names of Loveland Officers Austin Hopp and Daria Jalali are public, they lost their jobs.
Their lives are over for a while.

they got fired. sounds about right. the poor woman will continue to be victimized by her negligent family who can SMELL the payday coming, and the mercenary trial attorney that the family hired to seize tax payers money and award it to the people that actually caused this debacle will also get a nice fat check.
everyone loses, especially the taxpayers in peaceful who will be a little poorer and much less safe because of this.
I’ve been military in one capacity or another since conception.
Right now, my youngest is a Lance Corporal in the Marine Corps. He’s an aviation electronics technician, so I believe we are safe in concluding that he is not a low-grade moron. I hope that he will continue on to university when he completes his first hitch.
I find podcasts by Jocko Willink to be educational. We still have some good men in uniform.
