The concept of having quotas based on race, even quotas that state that a certain percentage of the workforce be linked to the percentage of the population and no more is abhorrent. As is often said, when applied across the board, NBA teams would only be allowed to have one or two black players at most on the entire roster. Who wants that? A fan would want to see the best players.
And if they weren’t going to apply it across the board...that is, we will do it for other professions (such as lawyers or doctors) but not sports...why would that be acceptable? There is no underpinning logic because...there isn’t any except racism to demand these quotas.
In a prior post, I had opined that the guy (lawyer in question) probably couldn’t do real lawyer work, and I am certain that that would be regarded as racist to some, to which I would reply:
If you hire and promote people based on their sex or color of their skin, why would you be offended if someone judges their abilities based on those very things?
In my eyes, Affirmative Action is a double edged sword. If someone can’t accept that people got to where they were because of their sex or the color of their skin, perhaps they shouldn’t be hiring and promoting those people based on their sex or the color of their skin.
If I were a capable black person, I would view Affirmative Action with a jaundiced view.
All is takes are the (major) stockholders, at the next meeting. They drive the power!
Actually, a smart head-fake to test customer loyalty before retaining the a$$inine policy or returning to the prior policy.
And I have paused (permanently) drinking cokes, even after growing up with them here in Georgia.
The payoff was Gayton plan all along.
That is the irony of it all. Just like the “New Coke” fiasco, when Coke tries to become “like Pepsi” it is a disaster.
