(”Even bad men love their mommas”.)
The science backs that up.
You can google it.
(I think we can all agree on this one)
Thanks for the Melania Magazine link.
I’d never heard of it.
Like most things and people, Mothers can be and are fantastic, problematic or both.
My ex-wife was/is a fantastic Mother when it came to nurturing and caring but was completely disconnected to the psychological damage she inflicted on our daughter with her irrational and emotional outbursts.
Thankfully, our daughter was exceptionally objective at a very early age and didn’t get sucked into her Mother’s insanity.
I think it was around 12 years old when I got my daughter a guitar. The first song she taught herself to play and then played and sang for her mom was “Mother” by Pink Floyd.
I think back and consider how that happened.
“Mom, I learned a song I can play on the guitar”, Mom says, “Great, come and play it for me”
“Here you go”
Key lyrics that rang true for her;
snip
Hush now baby, baby, don’t you cry
Mama’s gonna make all of your nightmares come true
Mama’s gonna put all of her fears into you
Mama’s gonna keep you right here under her wing
She won’t let you fly but she might let you sing
Mama’s gonna keep baby cosy and warm

“... my kids know I love them, whole-heartedly and unconditionally, that I am in their corner and have their back, and I will move mountains for them, that I empowered them to love learning and seek knowledge, and I will tell them when they are wrong and make them face the consequences”
That RIGHT THERE is the perfect definition of what a GOOD mom is all about!! (((Hugs)))
Part of the problem is the unreasonable expectations. That your child must be in five different enrichment activities before the age of five and in leadership positions in clubs in elementary school to get on the “right track”. That the child must have a perfect home, social and educational environment or else they’ll become mass murderers. And it will be your fault for not hovering over them all the time.
Wow, what a role model for your family.
My grandma was a widow with 3 kids and a farm during the Depression. They made it. One of her favorite stories was about two Roman ladies ... one married a rich guy and one married an ordinary guy but had several kids. The rich friend, decked out in gold and pearls, went to see her poor friend. The poor friend brought out her children and said “These are my jewels.”
That was her attitude toward her kids. I wish more of us were like that.
As far as having all the kids I did ... I regret nothing ;-)
Bless you and Happy Mothers Day.
Your kids are lucky to have you.
What a stunning observation!
