That FBI is amazing. When Trump was president they couldn’t even say that Russia wasn’t involved in the Steele memo and let that story grind on & on for most of that 4 year presidency. But now?! We have a rapid moving crypto-blackmail scandal with IP addresses traced to Russia (or eastern Europe) and the FBI within days rules out Putin! Wow!
Disclaimer: I think it unlikely that the Russian government was directly involved, but my job is not to do investigations that will be scrutinized by historians. It’s just my “best guess”.
.....and yet, it took a two year investigation costing tens of millions of dollars to figure out that Donald Trump did not collude with the Russians.
The Administration is not willing (or able) to fight World War 3.
And besides, if it suits the Russians, they could very well "round up the usual suspects" and present their dead bodies to the nearest CIA station. All we may need to do is ask - quietly.
This whole thing has the stench of an unauthorized project that was successful beyond wildest expectations of the perpetrators. But a bunch of people in various national intelligence agencies almost certainly know who they are and where they are. And the perpetrators made too big an impact.
Take away their protectors, and they won't last a week.
I wonder what sort of deals are going on right now behind closed doors.
