Apparently, the commanding officer had ordered the Marines to participate in the parade. (My impression is this was from a very high officer, so the order would have bounced down quite a ways.) After the incident the media said the Marines had thrown the book at the Marine who defended himself. When I went back some days later to see if there was any additional information, there was zero information, including the initial report, which was gone.
So, can’t tell you how badly injured the “attacker” was or whatever happened to the Marine. My guess is they gave him whatever the maximum penalty was.
Reminds me of a story. A man and wife are sitting in front of the fireplace. Their dog is licking his balls. The man says, “I wish I could do that.” The wife says, “I’d pet him first.”
Yeah, at least buy the Marine a beer first.
