Shoplifting is a significant issue as is the cost of extra security.

But—the big number often is employee/local management theft.
Some truck deliveries are just taken home by employees or employees working with local gangs.

Maybe they fully intended to keep their pledge to the local community, but going wookie dried up any option other than playing cards close to the vest (wink, wink, nudge, nod) and now they’re cutting out the “fat” because profits have dried up a bit.

Sorry if I missed this......I’m curious (to original poster or to anyone who knows from Baltimore) if any of the community leaders ever asked Target exactly why they closed the store? Maybe Target didn’t want to say and leaders didn’t want to ask. Same ole same ole afraid of the truth PC that ruins America.

Any big store that has a very high rate of constant crime, without crime prevention assistance from the local officials, is eventually going to leave.

The insane laws in California which allow up to $950 of theft before prosecution are a recipe for exactly what is happening right now.

Major chains are closing because they cannot sustain the constant loss so both jobs as well as places to shop leave the neighborhood.

This is exactly how Howard Schultz, the hypocritical virtue-whining CEO of Starbucks, got slapped after falsely accusing white people of racism when Leftists used a criminal's behavior in Ferguson Missouri to loot, riot,and burn buildings to promote their agenda.

Members of the truth-speaking public pointed out the hypocrisy of Starbucks and their miserable false racism virtue-whining while they didn't have a Starbucks in Ferguson.

Target needs to be asked the question FOREVER: "Why are the racist corporate officers at Target closing stores in predominantly black neighborhoods?"
