I'm ashamed to say that as a then 20 year from a family of life long Democrats I voted for him in 1976. I was a kid. What did I know?

Same here. I was just 18 and about to go into the Air Force. The military under Carter was the pits and I never voted for another Democrat again.

My oldest brother was a lieutenant in the First Marine Division when Carter took office. They still had the old steel pots from WW2. He was in field artillery.

The 105s they were using had manufacturers serial numbers that indicated the things were from 1939.
