“”It calls for immediately expunging nonviolent marijuana-related arrests and convictions from federal records “”
There’s a lot of Vietnam Vet’s got bad paper due to Marijuana, will they be expunging that also? Update they’re DD-214’s? They served, they fought, they bled and they got bad discharges simply for possession of pot.
I think cigarettes and smoking marijuana are equally bad but I’d rather my pilot be smoking a cigarette than a joint.
And reparations for those who were prosecuted??
They remember the Opium Dens.
Smoking pot doesn’t have any cancer risks?
The Federal government has lost billions from attacking tobacco.
So they need a new revenue stream.
I am in upstate New York. New York recently legalized recreational marijunia.
If you want to grow weed in New York, you have to get a liscense. They have a limited amount of liscenses, and they are only giving them out to minority owners and people who have already been convicted of marijunia charges.
Additionally, you have to pay five thousand dollars (non refundable) just to APPLY to get a liscense (which you can’t get if you are a white man), and if you do get a liscense, it is 140,000.00 annually to maintain it.
Of all these taxes, 20% goes towards “minority communities”, so you are literally paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes every year that are probably going to benefit areas that are completely different from the areas that you live in/do business in.
I’m not here to say smoking weed is good or bad, but I would like to point out that if you are in New York State and you are a white male, it is pretty much legally impossible to do so due to the discrimination they are writing into the laws, and because it’s “pot” no one seems to be taking notice.
Agreed. But I don’t want my pilot at the bar preflight getting hammered either. We can make a substance legal and without legalizing impaired operation.
“”I think cigarettes and smoking marijuana are equally bad but I’d rather my pilot be smoking a cigarette than a joint.””
That assuming they are smoking on the job which would be the same as drinking on the job in my opinion. Totally unacceptable.
Many states are already ignoring federal marijuana laws, yet they say states cannot ignore federal gun grabbing laws.
At some point “they” probably will.
In which case they should still require employees to be drug tested. For the safety of other non-drug user who do not want to work, especially in life threatening situations, with some idiot who is on crack or the like.
Because very few private sector employers would be able to compete with the kind of mediocrity we are seeing as the norm in the U.S. work force.
Drug Cartels.
It’s a gateway drug.
I believe there are medical reasons for thc, but it is way more abused than properly used;..
People who are stoned typically cannot think clearly. People who cannot think clearly are easier to control than people who can. No wonder Democrats are eager to legalize weed everywhere.
Republicans should have handled this during Trump’s first 2 years and been done with it.
It needs to be reclassified appropriately at the federal level and everyone knows it. Trump discussed doing this.
Apparently none of the people insisting weed does not cause lung cancer have ever cleaned their bongs. It is just as bad as tobacco for the lungs. Clean a bong and try and deny it.
That said, what you inhale is none of my business if you stay off the roads.
I wonder if Schumer realizes he is inadvertently advocating for States Rights....
“So long as they (the Proles) continued to work and breed, their other activities were without importance. Left to themselves, like cattle turned loose upon the plains of Argentina, they had reverted to a style of life that appeared to be natural to them, a sort of ancestral pattern...Heavy physical work, the care of home and children, petty quarrels with neighbors, films, football, beer and above all, gambling filled up the horizon of their minds. To keep them in control was not difficult.”
