America is Taxed.Enough.Already.

If it only applies to electric cars it might be OK.

It's crazy to impose it on gasoline/diesel powered cars because there's already a robust system in place to gather taxes from those fuels.

The 16th Amendment (income tax) was put in the Constitution because it allowed the feds to bypass the states and tax individuals on their income.

Prior to that the feds go only tax the states but not individuals.

Since the mileage tax is a tax on individuals, it cannot be imposed upon individuals citizens.

Therefore, if the feds want to impose such a tax, they damn well better add a new amendment to the Constitution in order to do that.

I hope that some high powered group of conservative lawyers will take this issue to court.

‘… as an established funding source for infrastructure improvements.’

This is a lie. The monies will be spent on everything exc. ‘Infrastructure’. Congress has no spending restraint esp when there’s a new and lucrative source of cash.

BZZZZZT. No they can't. That's why income from state bonds is exempt from Federal Income tax.

That 400K number is a lie.

When dimrats raise taxes, they crush the little guy.

Trump made that case very clearly which really pissed off the deep state.

It was neither. It was an "individual shared responsibility payment".

This is really not about raising tax money - it’s about control. After implementation, they will probably adopt a mileage scale so that miles driven in excess of a certain amount will be taxed at at higher rate. After you reach your mileage allowance for a certain year, your vehicle will be inactivated. Drivers could also find themselves unable to drive past an authorized geographical radius which could be assigned to keep individuals with certain political leanings from traveling too far from home.
This entire thing stinks and those wearing (R) on their sleeves should be flogged and sent home for supporting it.

that’s what the damn gas tax is for

The gas tax doesn't work on all electric cars like Testlas.

It’s refuting YOUR incorrect claim that the Federal Government taxed states prior to the individual income tax.

How are they going to know?

Both of my vehicles are monitored by the manufacturers already. They tell me, by email, each month, what my mileage is until the next maintenance requirement.

Everytime you post an article from Yahoo onto FR, you are feeding and supporting a communist.

Yahoo hires communists to write propaganda. These liars are paid fractions of a penny for every click on the article. The more clicks made, the more money these communists make.

By NOT clicking on Yahoo articles, you are starving a communist. That means these communist pricks have no cash to pay rent, buy food or keep the electricity on.

So the way to starve a communist, is to NOT post Yahoo crap on FR.

Amish have to equip it with a $100,000 gas chromatograph that samples the horses exhaust port for methane. Also equipped with GPS for miles tax & GC for new methane “save the planet from GloBull Warming” tax.
