Actually at present the CCP led by Xi is attacking the Chinese economy to eradicate the capitalism that has evolved into a direct threat to the CCP.
I saw a video last week where the term Chinese Socialism was used to describe the Xi end result. That is, communism is not to be the future but some kind of socialist totalitarian state that is not pure communism.
Those narrow minded Freeper Isolationists who are economic troglodytes can’t see beyond their own county lines, and in their gross ignorance have no clue as to what is in process in China.
China is currently faced with peril. Energy shortage, Banking collapse, real-estate bankruptcy that exceeds the GDP of many nations, the withdrawal of manufacturing by many, perhaps most and possibly all major world industrial companies manufacturing, calamitous, catastrophic flooding on a scale that makes Katrina look trivial are now reality
Growth of the Chinese GDP absent the world capitalist players and solely the result of China Socialist business is certainly not a given.
(and, the withdrawal from industrial greats does not mean they are returning to their home countries. The word is they are moving elsewhere )
China knows that and won't attack US assets, either. Taiwan isn't worth WWW III to either side.

Taiwan serves 2 National Security purposes:
Excluding the important fact that they are yet another western style republic and stand as an obstacle to further Chinese expansion.
1. They are an ally. Are we really going to follow up the botched Afghan exit with not assisting another ally. I don’t think so.
2. Taiwan produces 2/3s of the chips produced in the world.
3. China covets Taiwan for nationalistic reasons. Taiwan, keeps their eyes on that offshore goal, and displays to the world, it is not quite ready for prime time world leader. When Taiwan falls, WWIII is not far behind.
Chinese intends to own the Pacific and eventually the world. This war is inevitable, yet, most of us will not be here to see it.
I look at it as: (1) China believes Taiwan belongs to mainland China, and would like to get it back. But, it’s not going to start WW III over it. (2) China wants to embarrass the US and show it up. Threatening Taiwan, without consequence does just that. Biden has no concern about US prestige, and long at the bribes keep coming.
