i suspect that none of these flights would occur if taiwan had a credible counterthreat. therefore, it may be that taiwan has no credible counterthreat. therefore, taiwan needs a credible counterthreat, and the courage to use it if needed.

There were allegations in the 1970's that Taiwan secretly developed nukes for such an occasion like this. It don't know how true it is but I even hear that Japan is starting to think about scrapping that part of their constitution and possibly make nukes of their own. Taiwan should have kept their F-104's too in addition to the newer fighters they have now. I think over there, they have to learn to get by without us. Japan, Taiwan, Phillipines, Vietnam and the rest of IndoChina, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea for what they can do and so forth. The Aussies need to get their heads ob straight, when that happens or if, reach out to them. Reach out to India as well. India will be important since they are a nuclear power.
