I offered to buy my kids two bags of whatever candy they want and we don’t go begging for candy from neighbors. It would be cheaper for me. They enjoy dressing in costume and going to the church Trunk or Treat events, but the neighborhood thing is over, as kids don’t go out and play in the neighborhood much anymore.

when we were kids, not only did we use old mismatched socks for mittens when we were outside sled riding, but we made our own costumes from whatever there was in the house...we were bums, princesses, witches, farmers, etc....

money had nothing to do with our fun......

A Seattle elementary school canceled Halloween activities over concerns about student equity and inclusion. Specifically, Seattle Public Schools says Black males do not celebrate and, more generally, students of color feel marginalized by the holiday. One parent, however, thinks this is an “exercise in affluent white vanity that is wokeism.”

"Equity" (as opposed to "equality"): the belief that no member of a "privileged" group should have or enjoy anything which members of "marginalized" groups don't have or enjoy.

Just like communism doesn't produce wealth, but merely makes people all poor and miserable (unless you are in the Party)

I taught for 32 years and found an ethnic group who did not participate in Halloween Party. The kids who were Jehovah Witnesses didn’t take part. They would go to library.

That's ridiculous. I've lived in both cities and suburbs, and the majority of trick or treaters in the North East are POC. Trick or treat bags are one of the major food sources for the baby mamas who take their kids to the "nice" neighborhood for better pickings.
