I guess you missed the part where the poster wrote “Bad companies die and get broken up just as fast as new ones are born.”

I didn't miss it.

I just know the result of 40 years of that philosophy, which is enrichment of China, bankers, and other leftists, and mass die-offs of jobless Americans killed by oxycontin and illegal migrants.

No sale.

You forgot the role unions played in that deal. As a kid in the ‘60s - ‘70s we got our news from WRGB. GE workers were always “out on strike” over something or other. Just when the U.S. and Great Britain were going over the cliff and Asia was rising. The unions couldn’t see the writing on the wall and their ever increasing demands played a large role in “offshoring” our manufacturing base. This continued through the ‘80s. We are seeing the results of that.

We’re having a hard time undoing that for many reasons. A large part of that is in the following 3 generations we lost the culture of experienced and qualified craftspeople to pass down that legacy to subsequent generations. I passed that which I learned from my predecessors to my sons by leading them from an early age. My youngest is an aerospace machinist for the aforementioned GE (non-union shop) in the jet turbine division. He was top of his class in training and had a huge jump on his peers because he knew what side of a caliper to look at. The stories he tells weekly about new hires explains the deep hole we dug for ourselves.

"Hook some magnets to Jack Welch and power lower manhattan, because Neutron Jack is Spinning in his grave."

Jack Welch was the first big money creep who kicked off insourcing and outsourcing of American jobs and enthusiastically move GE manufacturing overseas. He was the original NWO CEO and I'm glad he's dead.

Not at all.

Destroying the unions has killed America.

Union members are our brothers and sisters. Peasants in Bangladesh or Indonesia, or engineers in India and China aren't.

You forgot that.

And most of the union destroyers can't afford bunkers in New Zealand.

IT does the same thing.

Centralized server, dumb terminals all over the place.

Then a desktop for everyone!

Even better, a LAPTOP for everyone, too!

Okay - now, centralized computer (”data center”) but everyone uses tablets/phones/laptops/Citrix/etc. to access the data.

Now, it’s all “cloud based” (still centralized), but access is from anywhere! ]

It’s the way the networking and computer folks keep making money - but making new industry standards and marketing the crap out of it.

I could not agree more. Plus the rank and file are the repository of the empirical knowledge and craftsmanship. That said, their dues pay for the leadership and collectivist corruption that is destroying a large portion of this country. When I say Unions it is in the “royal” sense of that word. Had the union leadership advised the rank and file of the ramifications of union demands in the days I described the outcome may have been vastly different, here and the UK.

Yes. Excellence of leadership, honesty, and vision are the path to success in business.

Corruption is the death knell.

It is also true in Government.

Unions can only destroy the country if finance capitalist treason goes unpunished.

A strong regime would empower unions and punish treason.

We have a weak government (by design), with many unfavorable outcomes because of that.

#45 the company I am at tried India support for about a year just for chat (text), calls were still US based. It did not work out. Now it is going to Poland where salary is 1/4 the cost as here. They are doing chat and voice support. The company has replace half of US support so far.
For our software like Oracle and Office 365 it is mostly in India so a lot of delay in fixing issues.

We use to fix everything in 1 day but not any more.
