I think the big shots can do financial things that immunize them from inflation-caused loss but the ordinary wage earner suffers because wages don’t go up as fast as inflation.

I see your point but you're overlooking the fact there already are "designated taxpayers." They're the "rich" and the Middle Class. Lower income people pay no income tax at all.

I lived through that in the Military. We'd get some pittance of a raise and everything off base went up by the same %. Everything.
Total nonsense. And untrue for most Americans.
Stephanie Ruhle is operating on a larger salary than a lot of people out here who are on limited budgets. Some like us are barely making it now. Inflation will mean that we will have to do with less food, travel, etc. She is an elite slob who is broadcasing stuff like this.
