I just realized last night that the people who donate money to these charity organizations are, for the most part, the middle class.
The wealthy and ruling class donate to the museums, art organizations, etc etc etc.
My grandfather, whom we called Grosspapa, use to say that ‘if Jessu came back to earth today, he would join the Salvation Army.”
That was his way of complimenting the charitable organization which made good use of donations without any scandal, a very nice salute from a faithful, believing Catholic gentleman.
This is the first year I have not written a check to the SA.
I have given to the red kettle drive as those people are wonderful folks making a sacrifice to standing in the cold weather ringing their bells.
