Well it’s off Cape Mendocino about 30 miles WSW of Ferndale. Maybe they meant Centerville?

A big quake off of Petrolia almost always triggers big ones in Central or SoCal. Likely spots are Ridgecrest, Mono Lake or the Salton Sea.

There has also been a cluster of 4.X quakes in the Sea of Cortez over the past few days.

Yuma, AZ may become beachfront property soon.

The peculiar quakes in the Sea of Cortez have been going on and off for a month or so. Almost all in the 4.1-4.9 range.

All at unknown depth (USGS uses 10.0km as a default for unknown quake depths.) What does it portend (if anything)? Who knows?

You’re right, the Cascadia Fault is the one to watch.

I tend to look at the quakes along the San Andreas system as north-south lever arms where the fulcrum is about Parkfield. There seems to be an equal and opposite correlation there. A quake north then a quake south.

Keeping in mind the Richter scale is logarithmic, the quake activity appears to balance out the seismic forces that way. A 6.2 at Petrolia might yield a 4.2 and a 2.0 somewhere near the Salton Sea for example.

Given that, in the next few days, the complimentary quake(s) should be showing up near El Centro. It is not foolproof but I have observed it to happen more than coincidentally.
