Yeah, water moccasins ARE mean critters. Given the choice I would rather wander into a rattlesnakes AO than wonder when a silent assassin is going to strike.
At least the rattler gives some warning.

“Bobcats and cayotes love small dogs.”

And they can slay a group of feral cats. We always knew when a Bobcat was wandering around...the barn cats would start disappearing.
We never had small dogs around the farm.

The coyote numbers have been growing. We’ll see how that plays out.

When I was a kid, I never saw a coyote. Now they are all over Florida.

We never had them here in Virginia either, until the last ten or so years. Now every farmer around here has donkeys in the pastures with their cattle. Because coyotes hunt alone or in small packs they can be quite a problem and nearly impossible to get rid of.
