Here we go! The witch hunts.
Actually, the witch hunts were rather minor thing in the human history. In time where millions died of plagues, wars, infections, birthing problems, etc. The few witches were drop in the buckets. The whole Spanish inquisition executed like ~2,100 people (men and women), less that few fanatics on September 11 in a day!
And yes there were some in other countries.
In total over the whole history, likely less that a day of Auschwitz. A less than day of Stalin reign of terror. Minutes of Mao great leap!
It is just a great propaganda tool to smear the Church!

Oh please!

First there are lots of myths about witch hunts.

2nd, the idea that there is some strong genetic inclination after only 3 centuries is ludicrous.

This is the UK’s pseudoscience religion.

A credulous acceptance of any evolutionary psychological theory no matter how groundless.

I’m a woman who has made it to the executive suite from the bottom up in a male-dominated industry. Back in the day I preferred to hire women because they worked harder to prove themselves. Not anymore. Entitlement and drama have replaced the old work ethic. Given equal qualifications, I’ll hire a man over a woman just to preserve my own sanity.

Women have a number of traits, some of which help them in the workplace, others of which hurt them—sometimes quite a bit. Some of my personal observations are below (feel free to disagree):

- Woman are generally more passive & agreeable than men. As you pointed out, men are more likely to be assertive and less afraid to disagree or protest.
- As I pointed out, women will often seek men out to do the difficult, dangerous and dirty jobs (especially the ones that can get you killed).

- Women are very process oriented. If you give them a process, in many cases they are more likely to follow it to the letter than men. Sometimes this is a positive, but it can also be a negative, especially if the process is flawed or needs to be improved. And it is often a man who comes up with the process in the first place.

- Women’s IQ tend to cluster around 100 with a smaller standard deviation than men’s. This means that women are generally not as stupid as the stupidest man (and, let’s face it: some men are really stupid). On the flip side, there are far fewer genius level women than men.

— Men can get very obsessive and hyper-focused about a task they deem important or interesting. They will often give up sleep and showers to complete it (think computer geek types). In contrast, women tend to want to live a more balanced life (one of the few things they are vocal about).
— Women have a biological clock; men don’t. This means that career women who approach their mid 30s will be consumed a lot more with the desire to have children.

— When they are young, a lot of women learn to manipulate men to get what they want. This power starts to wain in their late 20s. Once they become sufficiently unattractive, it may go away completely, making them lost and bitter. This goes 5X for women who actively use SEX to get what they want (yeah, I’ve seen a fair amount of that).

— Women are smaller & less prone to violence than men. This means intimidation is generally not a tool in their toolbox. Depending on the job, this can be either good or bad. They can yell and nag, however.

— Lastly, women are more compassionate and forgiving than men. Sometimes this is good, but often it is not. They will turn a blind eye to & make excuses for bad performance. They will also be less likely to enforce standards than men. I have seen this over & over, even with smart women that should know better. In the short term, this improves workplace harmony; in the long term, it can ruin oganizational morale & performance.

Yes. The kooks have really latched on to epigenetics.

As for number of witch executions. 15000 over 300 years would be 50 a year across all of “the continent”.

Women perhaps have traits that aren’t much use or good or in line with certain male traits and these idiots have to phony up an excuse and one that attacks men or the church or whomever they’re full of hate and anger for.

“The “tens of thousands” is from the book “Witch Hunts in the Western World”,”

That number and author are footnoted in the wiki article on witch hunts. I bet the article writer didn’t read the book, just took the numbers from Wiki.

Well, in all fairness. they are talking about traits adopted by the survivors of wich hunt — not the victims of them.

During the Early Modern era - 1450 to 1750 - tens of thousands of women were executed as 'witches' across the continent.

Tens of thousands?! C'mon!

__________

This is nonsense! All the people who lived in that period are long dead by now! And the some of the witches had children as well. There are definitely some descendants of witches living among us.

I’m guessing, but on good authority, that most of whatever the actual number of “witch burnings” occurred during the Thirty Years War.

Political witch hunts, especially motivated by geopolitics and personal revenge, as was the case in the Thirty Years War, are far more dangerous than causing cows to jump and poor fence construction.

I’m not like other women in that respect. I don’t take sh!t from people, least of all employers. I did when I was a teen, but not so anymore. Life is too damn short.

I’m not willing to put up with it. Period. A lot more women out there are like me than you think, but you don’t hear about them.

So 30% of those killed for supposedly practicing witchcraft were men?

The definitive treatment of witches in early modern Europe remains Monty Python's.
