I don't know how many in the media leadership realize that the fact that this line has taken off like this shows the complete lack of credibility for the media with a lot of people. I think a few understand that the media are being ridiculed, which is why you see the line that "the reporter mis-heard what the crowd was chanting", in news articles.
As much as they try to ban and censor this line, it just helps to propagate it even more.
