often thanks to failures by the state to buy needed property to build on.

This is a problem with any major infrastructure construction. Lot of people have a lot of lawyers which can slow down any construction project they do not like.
Obama learn hard way, Biden is learning now. There are no “shovel ready projects”.
Unless there is a law reform which limits the lawsuits, all large US infrastructure projects are doomed to fail!
But lawyers are the main force of the Democrats, so no reform will happen!
This will become the MS13’s favorite mode of travel. Imagine those cozy long rides with gang members offering to prop your pillow up or massage your feet. It would be cheaper to pay for everyones flights instead of building Express-Mex.
It will likely pass $200 billion before it is over.
All for a magic choo choo train to nowhere that no one will ride.
Here, we have to conduct an environmental study for 10 years. Then another 10 years to find appropriate land through eminent domain. Another 10 years of lawsuits. Then you'll have companies bid for the contract which will take 10 years. Now the actual construction will take 10 years. So there you go. You have the maglev train from L.A. to S.F. 50 years later
Or in the meantime, we can continue to use our aiports?
"Dock that chink a day's pay for nappin' on the job!"
We could build 20 new aircraft carriers. 20.
That really means $250 billion, in Cali-math.
So a trillion dollars and less than eight years left before the planet is covered in water? Sounds good.
“Fresno? Wouldn’t that make it FReep Train”
Yeah, JR can wave to the cows when it goes by.
How much of that money is going to China?
Of course.
Driving at both ends (traffic, parking, you name it.)
Rental cars? Yup.
Security? Yes I do suspect, it's a good thing, but there is nothing "high speed" about it.
Major delays? Of course. Trains = Delays
Time savings? Inverse time savings. Bring a few books.
Money savings? Ha ha ha. Even with subsidies, the Low Speed Rail will be pricey.
Cancellations, perhaps midway? Oh come on. Who doesn't want to see Bakersfield in the summer?
All this to get people there in a number of hours, when it
takes about one now.
It will never show a profit. It will be a fast track for
welfare recipients by the time it all settles.
That’s essentially what our inner city bus lines are.
I haven’t ridden light rail, but it wouldn’t surprise me
if that’s all that has turned out to be.
“That’s what happens when you let gov’t manage a project. You’d think they would have learned by Amtrak”
Lots of cronies and donors got very wealthy from Amtrak, as they are from the idiot train to nowhere.
Democrats in Hawaii are doing the same with the stupid local version of rail on Oahu. Unions are raking in millions as the costs keep rising.
America needs national and state level bankruptcy/insolvency. I’m sorry, but its the only way progressives and their ridiculous, destructive schemes will end. Anyway, its coming, whether we like it or not
As in the train from Button Willow to Bakersfield.
Ain’t Central Planning grand?
Communists in all their glory. Waste tons of money, get little done, employ their families and friends, and get rich doing it. Then pat themselves on the back for some monument to themselves that only the plebes will use.
maybe they can house the homeless on the trains
maybe they can start a “desert piercer” mad max version...
the interesting yet unspoken side of this:
if a private entity came forward 10-years ago and proposed to build this EXACT project, with their own investor’s money - the libtards and env-wackos would have raised hell and they’d still be tied up in lawsuits and EPA reviews....
and the other side of this side....if they were left alone to proceed, it would have been finished 7 years ago...
“A maglev train from downtown L.A. to the wharf in S.F. would be nice.”
Two no go places on for me and mine
