The invasion is indeed floundering. Worse than anyone imagines for the Russians.
The videos released to Telegram and picked up by Twitter military bloggers show Ukranian soldiers (and in some cases, farmers) collecting dozens and dozens of armored vehicles, MANPAD’s, and even MLRS systems. Lots more ends up destroyed.
Other videos show captured Russian soldiers begging Ukranians to be merciful because they did not know what they were being sent to do.
Poor, poor Russian boys sent to their early death by a lying, murderous despot.
We've been treating Cuba like a pariah for six decades and still haven't fully thawed out relations with it. Russia should keep that in mind...and they don't have a sugar daddy like Fidel had.

The Russian hordes will be tied down in an insurgency. Certainly you don’t believe the Ukes haven’t been studying assemblage and deployment of IEDs.
I know people with them. They did the coup in 2014 and are not a bunch of nice people. Even now they’re stopping Ukrainians from leaving areas so they can be used for human shields or force them to take casualties for the western media. They’re not good people, and they hurt their countrymen.

On the news the other night they were talking about massive numbers of rapes being carried out by the Russians.
It reminded me so much of the "babies thrown from incubators" line during Gulf War I.

Stalin earned the eternal hatred of Ukrainians in the early 30’s by starving millions of them to death and purging the kulaks. When the Germans came along in WW2 they were welcomed with open arms...with good cause.

That may be, but the forces Russia has so far deployed cannot realistically be depicted like that. There are too few to constitute contiguous linear front lines. At best there are concentrations on some roads with the rest being “held” with an intermittent patrol. Recall that such frontages in WW2 absorbed a million men or more. And as far as manpower goes the Ukrainians, being on homeground, can mobilize 2 million+ over time, while Russia has to build the logistics (railheads, roads, truck convoys) to expand beyond the limited forces they have there. The Ukrainians also have plenty of strategic depth, plus for guerilla war they have “sanctuaries” and endless foreign logistics. Its very likely to be a very long costly war.
Long term (in a year) Russia simply hasnt got the industrial capacity to replace losses. The long peace has affected them as much as anyone. It was building only a couple of dozen aircraft and under fifty tanks a year. That cant be expanded quickly.
On the whole it is a stupid war. Why expend such resources to dominate a people that hate them?

My point was that Russia’s invasion could cost them decades of respect and credit which they can’t afford. Much like Cuba except that Cuba had the Soviet Union sending them an allowance regularly.

Russian wanted for war crimes in Donbas arrested in Norway 21.10.2016 Yan Petrovsky, one of the notorious Russian neo-Nazi sadists who took photos of themselves over the bodies of Ukrainian soldiers they had mutilated has been arrested in Norway. He will probably be deported to Russia, however Ukraine is reported to want his extradition. ...The move is probably over Petrovsky’s activities after he returned to Norway. He was apparently living in Tønsberg with a Norwegian involved in the ‘Soldiers of Odin’ anti-immigrant movement and very clearly retains active links with neo-Nazi groups, including the Slavic Union which is now banned in Russia. His lawyer has apparently said that they will protest against the move which he claimed was ‘politically motivated’.
