It is interesting to watch the compromised voices who are called from seclusion to make statements when needed.

I call BS on that notion. Strangling Russia’s economy may (or may not) have a long-term effect, but it’s not the cause of their lack of a short-term victory in Ukraine.

Russia is the largest country in the world in land area though.

I don't know if Russia is losing, but I do know that they are now in week #3 of the war because the Ukrainians have united and are fighting back hard.
I don't know Putin's mind, but I think he wanted to finish this as fast as possible before global pressure took its toll on Russia. Ukrainian cities are being destroyed by Russia, but I think Russia is paying a steep price economically because of the campaign taking too long.
Thus far the average Ukrainians have rejected Russian tyranny. They don't want "big brother Russia" dictating their lives.
