I agree with both sentiments,

I think your context in agreeing with it is quite different.

They sound good until you think about them.............

Trust me, I’ve thought plenty about them. But I may have missed something.

Maybe you can point them out to me?

Think about how the young skulls full of mush view it.

universities typically don’t teach wisdom.

imho this is the first stab at teaching wisdom.

I agree.

A subscription to the DAILY WORD ($15/year) will tell you the same thing.

I had a very good job at age 17—out of high school.

MAYBE my efforts in High School were part of that.

I’m a bit dense, could you spell it out for me?

Interesting ... I had not considered that and will give it some thought. Your comment does call to mind a book by Dennis Prager a few years ago: "Happiness is a Serious Problem" which was also thought-provoking. Cheers!

Well $17,700 will certainly make someone happy!

What’s unclear from the article (Maybe I missed it!) is that per year or total. If it’s per year and a typical 2 year MA program. Someone (the university!) will not just be happy but estactic!

God, family, honesty, meaningful work, live within your means.
All other happiness is hollow without it.

ROTFL. There are a lot of clown jobs coming open since most of the clowns in this country either got elected to Congress or were given light jobs as Feral “judges”.

You view it as a part of a larger context, at least you should. There is time for that and there are times not for that.

For young skulls full of mush, it is their total world view.

Lower expectations used to be a funny comedy sketch on mad tv. Now it is part of a world view.

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=lower+expectations&ia=web

This is a variation of socialism, communism. Our country was built on high goals and dreaming. Do you think that is part of the program presented.

Think of the world you will live in with that world view. easily controlled and static. A world view that happiness is the goal.

I shoot for cabinet work in every project I do, that is the target. But many times i have to be content with carpentry work. (A cabinet maker doesn’t make any mistakes, a carpenter knows how to hide.

I’ve heard of some families (who are footing the bill) allowing their children to major in whatever they want, as long as they get a minor in Computer Science.

Other families (like mine) allow their children to major in whatever they want, as long as it is a Bachelor of Science rather than a Bachelor of Arts version of that major. So, a BS in Business Admin or a BS in Econ, not BAs. A little bit more math and science indicates rigor.

Actually if the $17,000 is yearly tuition that’s a bargain. That’s what many in state colleges charge their own in state students these days anyway.

Dude. Your idea of better world is horrific. This is why the Christian right can never have absolute power. As dumb as 17,000 is for a college class in happiness, his books are about taking responsibility for your own happiness, being in a state of gratitude. A LOT of people would benefit from self-responsibility, not being a victim tossed around by every news event and rub. Just not a University’s job to teach it.

I am not a dude, so failure of respect starts your commentary. That is the tip of the iceberg as to what I would do with absolutely no remorse whatsoever and to me is MUCH more preferred than what is going on now. Sir.

Oh yes, and a start date of 2021. You ARE part of the problem.
