The reason they are authenticating it now is because something is in the pipeline and they are trying to protect themselves and Biden before that story breaks.
The media, of course, has been like this forever. Back in newspaper days, if they absolutely had to issue a correction, it would be at the bottom of page 32, next to the daily grain report, in 6-point type.

Saw another article a couple of days ago that the media sees the damage their (not) reporting on the Hunter Xiden story has caused average people not to “buy” their news today. This is exactly the way to beat them - don’t listen to them. If they had any integrity, they would all resign because of the incompetence (at best) or blatant active working “donation free” on behalf of the demonikrap party to give cover to the “big steal” of the 2020 election... never to be working in public again except maybe as a Walmart greeter.
