NATO should have been disbanded when the Warsaw Pact collapsed.

Foreign entanglements do us no good.

LOL you are a funny man. I also believed Putin we be done with the war very quickly. After looking at multiple analysis by military specialists I conclude that Patton was correct. The Ukraine is not as highly militarized as Russia nor does it have as large a population to draw from. Russia as 100 million more people, and the Ukraine is not as industrialized. I am making nothing up. I will post sources to follow this post. I spent 24 years in the US military, 10 active duty and 14 reserve. I am also on a military blog called Rally Point. DD214 required to join. My own education completing The Leavenworth Command and General Staff College I can assure you the Russian Army does not maneuver armor forces well and there doesn’t appear to be much coordination between artillery or air support. Indeed the Russian ground forces shot down a Russian jet today. The logistical support, maintenance of equipment etc is abundantly lacking. The tires blowing out on trucks and motorized vehicles is epidemic due to simple lack of maintenance and corruption. You really need to read up on Patton or at least watch the last 1/2 hour of the movie Patton starring George C Scott..

Here is where Patton wanted to keep the Nazi German Army intact to fight Russia.

The Soviet Union failed during the Winter War with Finland. The time for Finland to join NATO is now. The Russians are not capable of invading Finland at this moment.

Getting back to this / FWIW / for reference, from the horse’s mouth:

https://www.nokiantyres.com/company/news-article/nokian-tyres-statement-on-our-businesses-in-russia/

Now, IMO, that (esp. the statement of March 22), can be interpreted with some flexibility in some areas, but it does not appear Nokian is too dismayed by the prospect of no exports of their tires from Russia. Nokian is not producing (perhaps has not produced) military type tires in Russia for the Russian military, nor will they do so voluntarily.

I do have a question about the (present / recent past) 70% of Nokian tires produced in Russia: Heavy tires, esp. the big ones, are high dollar items. Nokian’s are not produced in Russia. Is that 70% a % of number made, or % of sales in Euros?

Aside, I note that the Euro has been on a long slide since late Spring 2021, but so far the effect of the Ukraine war seems slight.

Needs to be nationalized already. Reciprocity is a female dog.

Might backfire. WOULD backfire if the management of the Russian operation is mostly Finns. Running such properly takes a lot of people with a lot of expertise, working well together. Restoration possible, but would take time.

They say are stopping investments and plan to develop manufacturing back in Europe. The latter is likely a bluff, the former is likely true, meaning a negative development in a long run. Nobody chases the management away on top of that. They are unlikely to get a job elsewhere.
