Howdy, luvie.

Did it get as toasty as predicted? Or were you lucky and they missed the mark a bit?

They were pretty much on the money here. Pretty but chilly.

Hey there radu!

Yep, the promise for toasty came true. Although it was “only” 88 degrees. It will be hotter tomorrow. Oh, well, it’s bound to happen. It was very nice at twilight, though, and I sat outside for a while.

I just looked at your temp, and man! You’re right...it is definitely chilly there. If we could just reach a happy medium. :)

Ugh, I feel for ya. It’s not summer yet!!

We got lucky last night and stayed cloudy. That kept the temp from dropping as low as predicted and there was no frost. Tonight’s the opposite. No clouds and it’s already colder than it got last night. No wind either so we’ll probably have frost before morning. *sigh* I’d throw a sheet or something over the dogwood to protect its blooms if it wasn’t so large now. Oh well, there’s next year.

HEY, KATHY,

Spring arrived one day a couple of weeks ago. The air was warm, moist, with that sweet scent and fullness of Spring that filled and nourished the lungs. It was wonderful.

Then it left the next day and hasn’t really returned yet.
Grey, rainy, chilly (but no longer cold), what my wife and I call “SCOTTISH”...we lived there for quite a few years and were very disappointed to find out that the “Romantic Scottish Mist” is what the rest of us call “Drizzle”. I remember a headline in the newspaper (The Scotsman, IIRC...which figures) “HEAT WAVE! 77 DEGREES!” As da prez sez, “I’m not joking! Am I joking? Joking about what? Who are you? Where?...”

Anyway, all the snow’s gone (except for what I keep in the freezer for emergencies) and “mud season” was hardly noticeable, but there’s lots of “Spring Cleaning” needs to be done. Two trees came down that need cutting up (only lost a bird feeder...which I only put up to amuse the cats).
Glad my chainsaws still work...even more glad that I decided that I DON’T! There comes a time when you realize that you ought not do that sort of stuff anymore. Happened sudden...a few days ago, I was just 18.

I’m sure you know what I mean.

So, we’re still waiting for Spring at TigerHawk Hollow.

Any sight of it in Alaska?

Keep the Faith.

Drat! What a shame those blossoms will be ruined. As I remember, they are so gorgeous. Our columbine is blooming. And the narcissus and the teensy daffodils. And...we finally have grass coming up. Hubby “scalped” the lawn and it was lurking under all that straw. LOL!

I’m hoping they won’t all be ruined. It’s just one night and with luck, they won’t suffer more than a little frostbite around the edges. Keeping the ol’ fingers crossed for luck.

Cool that you’re getting some colors around the house. And GRASS!! YAY!

I’m sure it was depressing. It’s depressing here during winter. We don’t have many flowers blooming here yet - - just daffodils and the dogwoods - - but it won’t be long.

I need to go to the other house to see if the Immortality irises have bud stems yet. They usually bloom right around my birthday. They’re the first irises to bloom on the farm.

I think spring is here to stay.

It was beautiful today, except quite breezy when I went out. Then it was QUITE chilly! LOL!

What color are those irises? I hope you get tons of them to wish you happy birthday!

I love irises and I have some very old ones that came from my aunt and hubby’s aunt. But they barely bloom any more, no matter what we try to get them to. I’m too lazy to try much any more, so the green leaves just come up and then go away in the winter.

I do have some white ones that I “stole” from the litle cemetery where my mom and my grandparents are buried, and they are tough and still bloom a bit.

I hope it’s there to stay! Y’all got an EARLY winter up there and you’re probably sick to death of it by now.

Sounds like here - - windy. We did break 50 degrees this afternoon but when I headed out for a quick store run and that wind hit me .... BRRRRRRRRR!!

No wind tonight and it looks like there’s a good chance for that frost they warned about this evening. Hope it’s the last one!

The Immortalities are white with large blooms. They’re supposed to be re-bloomers and bloom twice a year. But where I was stuck planting them doesn’t get as much sun as irises like so they’ve only re-bloomed a couple of times.

Hubby’s slooooowly working on a large bed behind this house so I’ll have a good spot to move all the flowers Dad sent. The other irises are pretty too. One variety is bark blue, one is burgundy with touches of bronze, one is lavender and tan (sounds weird but they’re pretty), and there are some yellow and purple Dutch irises. He also sent some gorgeous Frilly Peach daylilies.

There are a couple of beds of irises that were planted years ago but few of them bloom any more because they’re so crowded. I really don’t have anywhere else to move them to.

Have you gotten to see the museum tour on TV yet?

No, they haven’t aired the show as far as I know. They’re supposed to contact Boss Man to let him know when it’ll air so he can let the rest of us know.
The program is on for a half hour and they show three different places of interest. You’re looking at 10 or so minutes per place. They were at the museum for several ours getting footage and have a LOT of editing to do to whittle it down to 10 minutes.

They all sound lovely. Our irises aren’t crowded, they’re just old. LOL! I think it’s catching.

Aaaaand, I really do need to go. Not that I’ll sleep, but I have to try, or you know.....

They are lovely. They bloom at different times so they aren’t all showing out at the same time. Extends the “show” in the beds they’re in which is nice. The daylilies are in a different bed and they usually bloom around the beginning of June. They multiplied quickly and now put up over a hundred bud stems, each with several flowers. It’s a nice long-play show.

Good luck getting to sleep early tonight. Not easy, I know. LOL
