“… According to reports, both countries have delivered the latest and most capable versions of the system. The systems were delivered to Ukraine on the border with Poland. …”

And more items are added to the ChiCom’s shopping list for specimens of these compact (easily shipped) weapon systems. Money is no object. Some corrupt Ukrainians (of which there is no shortage) will be making BEAUCOUP MONEY off this unofficial technology/intellectual property transfer to Biden’s friends, the Chinese.
DON’T DOUBT THIS! I don’t think this even falls into the UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES category.
It is a so so ATGM. There are better ones.
All weapons are “brutal”. Everything has to be hyperbolized, I guess.
Those they get now will augment what they can get by buying them from Afghanistan.
This isn’t fair. The nazis of Ukraine and the rest of Europe aren’t allowing Russia to win. Poor Russia, the only friends Russia has are the Armenians and maybe Belarus (which thankfully was kept out of nazi hands when the good dictator of Belarus arrested the nazis trying to overthrow him by winning an election). Where are the good nazis of the super-patriotic Wagner Group? Where are the good Islamic terrorists from Chechnya?? And why hasn’t the good dictator of Syria provided the 40,000 volunteers we requested??? Don’t they know that mighty Putin, conqueror of Abkhazia and liberator of parts of Donestk and Luhansk, is unstoppable? Putin is getting impatient and, soon, he will send in the equally unstoppable Armata-14 tank, so named because that’s how many Russia has. And why isn’t the U.S. sending us lend-lease duece-and-a-half trucks, and gasoline and food and other needed supplies? Don’t they love us any more? Did we, maybe, not say “thank you.” Did we, maybe, not acknowledge the help we received from the U.S. during WWII and claimed instead that we beat Germany all on our own??? Hey, President Joe, it was just a bad translation, or maybe a joke. You know, the way we like to boast among friends. Please don’t let them use these super weapons when all we have are Mosin-Nagant rifles.
“Just the thing for those pesky traffic jams.”
I’ve probably spent a quarter of my driving hours dreaming of having a MILAN for the jerks who cut me off. I close one eye and practice my aiming.
Well, we all know how much guts your average Russkie has. I mean, just look at how many them Nazis killed off, and still they wouldn’t quit!
Ukraine received ‘brutal’ ATGMs as opposed to the ‘benign’ ATGMs.
These are cast off hand me down weapons that are being donated.
> Looks kinda cumbersome...
hey, it’s for killing MBTs at a safe distance...and it’s luggable. I suspect it has a detached mode where you hang out a goodly distance away and target with a remote module. I bet you can rig multiple missiles for a good ambush on a tank column.
Brutal? I’d say terrorizing for armor and slow-moving aircraft.
Irrespective of whether Russia acknowledges the roles played by its western allies, America honors the sacrifice made by Russians during WWII in defeating the nazis.
>>Buying stock in weapons manufacturers is looking good.
>Raytheon
hahah, Raytheon is local to Tucson and I notice there’s a hiring surge of late.
Got a link?
They were kicking out the Germans from their home territory. There's an big difference in motivation between defending the homeland and conducting unprovoked offensive operations. The Russians have not been very motivated at all in their war against Ukraine. Furthermore, the Kremlin just released figures for the elite paratroop unit that the BBC wrote about a week or two ago. If you extrapolate out, the losses in that unit indicate about 20K killed overall. That's not at all out of line with the Ukrainian estimates of over 19K. In just under 8 weeks the Russians have managed to lose almost 3 times more soldiers killed than in Afghanistan in 10 years. Also consider that when the generation of Soviet soldiers who fought WWII were born, the fertility rate was over 7 per woman. The fertility rate now is just 1.3. The soldiers fighting now were born in the 1990's through early 2000's when there was dip in birth rates due to the post Soviet economic depression. Many of these soldiers being killed are the only children of families and the only grandson of 4 grandparents.
Just because its old, doesn’t mean it isn’t good.
But this a great opportunity to use up old ordnance before it has to be serviced.
German and Soviet commanders meet at the Nazi-Soviet demarcation line in Poland, after a successful invasion, September 1939
Russia boasts a lot. Having committed about 3/4 of its permanent combat groups to Ukraine they still can’t win.
2nd Amendment should allow Americans to own these.
thank you. It’s good to point this out in case somebody didn’t realize I was being careful in saying we Americans appreciate the sacrifice of the Russians IN DEFEATING THE NAZIs, to distinguish this from when the Russians WERE ALLIES OF THE NAZIs.
No, we did not ever and do not now “appreciate” the Russian invasions of Poland, Romania, the Baltic countries or Finland during 1939 to 1940, all pursuant to the mostly secret terms of the Ribbentrop-Molotov “Nonaggression” Pact; nor, the Russian invasions of Ukraine and the Caucuses (successful), and of the Baltic countries, Finland and Poland (unsuccessful) during 1918 to 1921.
