The NYT doesn’t have a lick of sense.
“Okay, it’s unlikely the Russians will nuke us.”
It is unlikely they will attack the US mainland. Yet.
It is increasingly likely they will use tactical weapons to block war supplies. It would only take one in western Ukraine. And I don’t think we wouldn’t do a thing.

It’s classified information. “Classified Information” is defined as information that the deep state may freely publish through the New York Times or the Washington Post or some other MSM-deep state borg entity in order to further their partisan political and ideological agendas, but which if revealed by someone other than the deep state carries the penalty of prison.

Addendum: Classified material is material that is secret from the US public, but known to most enemies of the US. And unauthorized disclosure carries the penalty of large fines, in addition to prison time, unless the leaker is either high up or well-connected politically in the Democrat Party; then its is just fine.
While US generals are high value, Orc generals are as expendable as any conscript. Kill one and dozens more step up to fill the smoldering shoes; its how officers advance in Orc Land - like musical chairs : last one standing at the end of a conflict gets a big promotion and a whole new level of things to steal.
Russian generalship is often purchased, like other positions in the Orc military. Merit is only gained if the Plan, laid out by the head politician, succeeds or appears to succeed. Else ...
