I don't claim to be either a psychiatrist or a theologian but I would assume that there is an overlap of evil and mental illness. By claiming Ramos is mentally ill, I'm not making excuses for him. Sin was his underlying problem. As Paul describes in Romans 1, God gave some over to a debased mind. As one goes deeper and deeper into sin, I think we would observe what the world would call mental illness. Was Ramos mentally ill? Yes. Was Ramos evil? Yes.

IMO Ramos was damned and is spending an eternity in hell.
