I honestly do not see when a few nuts kill people and that is considered a window of opportunity to do more legislation. If it was possible, and has happened in the past, why didn’t the people that are trying to get more worthless legislation, obviously, in, consider that a need and not an opportunity? Waiting for something to happen to trigger an action by government is admitting they can’t do their work to protect people.
When they have to let some get killed to prove a point they should have prepared successful ideas so they don’t display they have no control as criminals are going to get guns. The thing to do is execute them after the criminals use up all their appeals to let criminals know they will be killed back. So if they do it anyway, kill them back. Simple.
