I think it’s really a bad idea for NASA to abandon Hubble to burn up on re-entry. You’d think somebody could design a low-power motor to gently boost its orbit a little and give it another 40 years of great photos.

So what is this gravity, which can crush stars so intensely that the electrons in their core atoms are forced into the nuclei where they fuse with protons? Newton couldn't figure out what it was, but theorized about it. Einstein improved on Newton's theories, but Einstein couldn't figure out what gravity is and how it relates to other forces.
All we know is that it sucks.

Things like this are another reason that interstellar travel is nearly impossible. There won’t be a Star Trek, Star Wars, or Dune in the future.Nope. There may be other constraints on interstellar travel, but the chances of colliding with a wandering black hole aren't even worth considering. Space is really big. Like, really really.
