“It kind of makes me wonder - what do they expect of the next guy on the bench, DeSantis? Do they think he will sink into the swamp like most ‘Pubbies do?”

Good question.

If I had the chance to be a debate moderator, and ask DeSantis or any other self-proclaimed MAGA candidate one question - I’d ask this: “Do you think the 2020 election was stolen, and if so, what are you going to do about it?”

The thing is, these politicians all know full well that the election was stolen, but they have their reasons for not saying it out loud. One possible reason is that they are swamp creatures and like the swamp just the way it is. Another possibility is that they know the media will destroy them as conspiracy nuts, and they will get “cancelled”.

Then there are the rare few who have the balls to shout it from the rooftops that the 2020 election was totally stolen.

I watched a televised town hall in Bucks County, PA where Mehmet Oz was taking questions - someone asked what he would do as Senator about the stolen election. He artfully ducked it by tossing it over to John Fredericks who was on the campaign trail with him.

That was very clever, because Fredericks is an ultra-MAGA radio personality who is extremely outspoken about the stolen election - so the MAGA audience was appeased, yet Oz was able to avoid being caught on camera spreading crazy conspiracy theories. He also had Dr. Ben Carson there with him, who he used in a similar manner to avoid saying anything “too conservative” regarding abortion, transgender, etc., that could be used against him later when he wants to appeal to moderates and the woke crowd.

This is what politicians (except Trump) do. I understand that. Unfortunately, it means you don’t really know where they stand until it’s too late.

But I’m curious if DeSantis has been asked that question - and if so, how he handled it. I like whatever I’ve heard from DeSantis so far, but unless he has the balls to just say the election was stolen, I will reserve my judgment.

My Dad once told me that, when a new guy is elected to office they take him to a little meaning where they explain consequences of not going along - loss of campaign funding, inconsequential committees seats, etc. The Swamp wasn’t a thing back then, but basically it amounted to “Join us in The Swamp, and prosper, or resist and we’ll make your career miserable, meaningless, and short.”
Trump didn’t have to play the game - he literally ad “FU Money.” But DeSantis does have to play the game. He probably has a whole book of people and organizations to whom he owes favors.
That is why I favor Trump over DeSantis.

“That is why I favor Trump over DeSantis.”

Yes, that’s a good reason, among many. President Trump doesn’t serve anyone except the American people.

Another reason to favor him is the whole bird-in-hand thing. President Trump has already proven twice that he can win, made all the right promises and kept them, and delivered four years of peace and prosperity. DeSantis sure seems like he would be a good President, but he has yet to prove it.

Why not choose the known quantity?
