To be fair, Russia builds cheap. We were trying so hard to get the rail gun and the hypersonic bomber which would use both high altitude and high speed to drop bombs with little risk of getting shot down. But then Russia with their cheap thinking figured: Why not just has a missile that obliterates by crashing into a target at hypersonic speed? It wouldn’t have the maintenance concerns of an actual bomber because it’s disposable and would still have the increased difficulty to shoot down given that it would fly at speeds over Mach 5 to crash into a target. Not saying cheaper is always better, just saying cheaper is the route Russia usually takes.
