“None of which existed in Ukraine, still don’t and won’t ever... And just who the Hell are you anyway”

Victims of Russian military war crimes are being documented often with references to individuals & being verified by eye-witnesses/video accounts.

Is is important to bring up another issue, perhaps unintentionally revealed here.

I’m sure it is difficult to refute factual truth. It becomes much simpler to just post dissentious comments in the attempt to discredit an opposing poster.

Actually, I will continue to respond on Free Republic to:
1- reveal factual accuracy
2- prevent control by others with not so hidden agendas.

I care about this Free Republic forum which offers opportunity for intellectual discussions: both point and counter-point. I fear the personal attacks directed at posters could/will ultimately destroy this wonderful site created by Bill Robinson.

Even long-time, quite knowledgeable Freepers, have revealed to me they no longer post because the deterioration of discussions into just invective responses. I’m sure this is true for new ‘viewers’ being turned-off as well.

Freepers are intelligent politically and socially concerned individuals. Or, we wouldn’t be here!

Let’s all do better :)

This is not our concern.

Let the Europeans handle it.

“This is not our concern.”

No. I will not support this direct invasion of a sovereign nation by Putin that has resulted in the destruction of villages, towns & cities and with the creation of a holocaust for civilian Ukrainian people: men, women and children.

And we have shed more than enough blood and treasure defending them from themselves.

Two generations of my family damn near lost their lives in 1918 and 1944 fighting for these aholes and later defending them while Japan stole away our electronics industry and the (West) Germans dominated the steel and car market.

America was founded to be an entirely different entity than Europe and up to this point it has worked.

Worked that is until this carrot was installed in The White House.

Now the nail in the coffin is going to be getting involved in a war between two scorpions in a bottle half a world away, one of whom keeps demanding billions of our tax dollars every month.

No thanks.

I love how you blow right past this little thug who keeps demanding we fork over $ 9 billion to him every month.

The Ukrainian government has been doing that for the past eight years. Can't remember you being outraged about that.

This is a distortion of Putin 2014 Invasion:

During its first phase in February–March 2014, the Ukrainian territory of Crimea was invaded and subsequently annexed by Russia following.

This was an internationally-criticized (UN resolution 68/262) referendum.

REMEMBER: Col Mamchuk

On 3 March 2014, Mamchur was given an ultimatum to surrender by pro-Russian forces. He instead chose to march to a pro-Russian checkpoint with his men unarmed while only carrying the flag of the 62nd Fighter Aviation Regiment.

Col Mamchuk said: “Last night our wives and children were at the gate protecting us. We did not join the army to be protected by our families, by civilians. We should be the ones protecting them. This morning we will march up there and show them that we are soldiers. We shall not respond to their provocation, but we shall claim back the parts of this base which has been occupied by a foreign power.”

He instead chose to march to a pro-Russian checkpoint with his men UNARMED while only carrying the flag of the 62nd Fighter Aviation Regiment.

The event marked the first time that weapons were fired in the Crimean crisis as Russian troops fired warning shots as Mamchur and his regiment approached. The regiment is well respected EVEN amongst Russian troops, including the historic events they went through in 1941.

Mamchur and his regiment were stopped at a Russian blockade where he directly confronted the Russian troops by stating that, “It is our duty to safeguard the Constitution of Ukraine in keeping this base.” The Russian troops eventually withdrew, while Mamchur, for twenty additional days, maintained his post in Belbek

Col. Mamchur the Belbek base came to be known as a bastion of resistance: brakes were cut in his family car, he has received death threats and even posters had been put up demanding his execution for treachery.

On 23 March, Mamchur’s base Belbek was overrun by Russian regular troops, being the last Ukrainian base to fall. Mamchur was verbally abused by pro-Russian militia and cossacks, but he refused to be provoked, and ordered his men to resist non-violently and sing the Ukrainian national anthem. Immediately he was then arrested. He was released three days later. According to Mamchur’s aides he was being held in Sevastopol.

Mamchur has stated during this detention, he was under intense psychological pressure.

“They kept me in a single confinement cell for 3.5 days. On the first day unidentified Russian troops kept constantly talking to me – they tried to persuade me to commit treason, betray the oath to the people of Ukraine, go serve for in Russian army.

Then there was just psychological pressure – they would not let me sleep, knocked on the door with gun butts. I feel well, the mood is fighting. What will I do next? First, I will take a shower, then I will be making decisions. Glory Ukraine!”

Many of Freepers have family that fought in both WWI & WWII, Korea etc.

However your anger on “Stolen electronic & Car market” is not accurately placed. Our U.S. Auto manufacturing was broken by Congress striving to build Japanese automakers.

In 1985, the most fuel-efficient car in the world at that time was made in America achieving 55 miles per gallon in city driving and 60 on the highway. With Congress creating trade barriers restrictions Japan was given further automobile industrial advantage. Foreign cars became cheaper The U.S. population followed the ‘fantasy’ lifestyle of buying foreign products while maintaining their lifestyle without need for industrial employment of U.S. goods.

Our forever Greenie experts from the EPA continually promoted new stringent standards which then developed the new crush-able lightweight vehicles. Just for extra complication, Unions demands of increased employee give-a-ways pushed the auto industry production into low-wage countries.

Thanks for the response. I understand your detailed views. Using the measures you suggest also suggests that both sides in the Ukraine-Russia conflict are potential violators of those standards which you detail.

Parsing down the discussion to only this particular conflict / war / liberation (call it what various people will) does not assist any argument long term, for the number of conflicts / wars / liberation and those pleasantly-monikered color revolutions, both successful and failed, leaves us in America as the current "champ" in such as the almost-20 year failed war in Afghanistan or the decimation of Libya for US political concerns, two of a far longer list.

As a staunch fiscal conservative, I find the loss of treasure and lives from -- say -- Vietnam forward to the present needs to be placed in docket and more closely examined. How this current conflict and proxy war will end, I claim no vision nor idea. But victors -- which ever side prevails -- will ultimately write the tale. It might not be us as represented by Biden, Harris, Sullivan, Blinken, Austin and of course Nuland.

Best regards.
