I suppose “management” would have preferred the shooter to keep killing customers until the authorities arrived.
I go into Simon Malls all the time with my Ruger SR40 in my waistband. They’ll never know unless I have to use it. Their signs mean nothing to me. The worst they can do is have me cited for trespassing. Don’t care. I started doing this religiously when my wife and I were in a mall in Orlando, FL before Thanksgiving several years ago. I saw two middle-eastern males come in and go to the base of the escalators and take a selfie of themselves...with the entrance in the background. I followed from a distance and took pictures of them taking selfies at each entryway. I grabbed mall security at one point showed them what they were doing, and they blew me off. Orlando Police wasn’t interested either. I take my firearm everywhere now.
As well they should have. My comment was directed more at the stupid Newsweek writer who seems to think that Mr. Dicken needs to be punished somehow, on any pretext.
Yes, he did. And he proved just how stupid those rules were.
In any cause, the most the mall administrators could do would be to ask him to leave and charge him with trespassing if he did not.
This is an excellent strategy.
No kidding and thank God!
I would have only been concerned about the outcome.
Indiana law is the measure. Usually, states laws authorize deadly force and incidental circumstances are rather minor.
I always carry in no gun zones. Concealed is concealed.
That’s why they call it concealed carry. No one has to know you carry till they need you.
so don’t save many lives if a gun law MAY have been ignored?
Reminds me of Kennan Wynn character in Dr.Strangelove who tried to stop the officer from breaking into the soft drink machine to get a coin to use the pay phone to save the world from a nuclear war.
“You’re going to be in trouble with the Coca Cola Company.”
Silly me, I thought the left liked rule-breakers.
He wasn't the only one... and you're welcome.
It is up to the mall propety owners to enter a civil suit (no law was broken) if they chose. Not likely they will do that as the negative publicity would be damaging.
Property rules are not legal rules in Indiana. You do not have to obey unless you are asked by property owner.

I’ve been told not to worry about if you feel the need to carry - all they can do is ask you to leave 🤪
-- Robert A. Heinlein
If you're carrying concealed and doing it properly, the sign only counts when there's a metal detector to back it up.
Hey Snewsweak, one of your boobs got loose.
I’ll bet the gunman thought the mall would be a gun free zone.
Boy was he surprised.
They wanted a lot more dead so that Chucky and the NY Chipmunk and the elephant from Illinois could demand new gun laws. They commonly pick and choose which laws they follow. But our side can’t do that.
