What I figure is, in these Western countries like the USA, we will likely still be able to survive and get enough to eat, even if just barely.

I am trying to get myself insinuated into local politics and the election process in a blue state that I have zero change of having any impact on, and even entering the process makes me feel as if I am sticking my ungloved hand into a toilet clogged with several days of human waste, I detest it that much.

The manufacture of all that high tech equipment and the chemicals used sure does look "sustainable". Same thing as wind turbines, solar panels and a gazillion batteries. It's all a transfer of wealth and control to a certain group of people.
All these things have something in common. They can all be patented. What kind of food is patented right now? RoundUp ready corn/soy. Who owns it? Big Pharma since Bayer bought Monsanto. How much of the market do they control? 80% iirc.(quick search says 90% in 2003) All the other high tech produced food is being funded by various investors including asset managers.

They're also working on gene-edited livestock and you just know farmers will jump on board if they can make a little more money(to start with), just like they did with roundup ready corn.
That means techies, pharma and financier types will own almost all food production and all of them are globalist/futurist/progressive/technocrat types.
The future will be some kind of mix of Idiocracy, Elysium, Hunger Games and some other dystopian nightmares like Black Mirror episodes if they have their way.
RoundUp is failing. There are more roundup resistant weeds every year and some farmers are getting away from it. The seed's more expensive and now they're having to mechanically cultivate to knock down weeds again like pre-roundup days.
