Dollars to donuts says if you dig into Quigley’s records, you’ll find unpaid taxes. Somehow, paying those taxes never seems to apply to Dems.

It depends on who defines fair share.

The federal income tax on people with a taxable income as low as $42,000 is 22%, but a person with $175,000 taxable income only has to pay 24% in federal income tax. That’s fair?

So what would make it fair in your eyes?

Keep in mind income tax is one of many taxes.

If you love this country, you don’t try to bankrupt its citizens and promote socialism.

No, it’s not fair. The rate should be the same for all.

"So what would make it fair in your eyes?"

I'm not going to construct my own tax table for the sake of a single post on a comment board, but I think the different tax brackets should be smaller, especially in the under $200,000 income levels. There is a huge difference between the impact of a 22% tax on someone making $45,000 and the impact of a 24% tax on someone making $175,000. One can cause real hardship, but not the other.

So your definition of fairness is ability to pay. A progressive tax.

You do know we have had a really good progressive tax at one time.

https://taxfoundation.org/historical-income-tax-rates-brackets/

I find the highest tax bracket at the above to be 70%, then Reagan led some changes.

The current philosophy is that EVERYONE should pay some taxes. This is from Trump. There no longer is a zero-tax bracket.

Study the history and current tax structure presented.

My point to you is that tax brackets are a shiny thing to distract us.

Do you think anyone paid that 70% tax? No, they spent more to reduce their taxes and stimulate the economy. They even admitted that was the purpose of the high tax brackets.

I have studied taxes for a long time, did tax advice and analysis. There are tax brackets which everyone looks at and there is the average tax paid.

I have a 30 year history and my average Income tax, self-employment tax, social security (my half) and state income tax are 17.06 percent of my total income.

Now what percent of total income was paid for property, sales, transfer tax and a lot of other taxes?

Tax brackets are a shiny thing in a complex system.

For further reference.

Those taxes paid as a percentage of TAXABLE INCOME was 26%

To get to taxable income, total income is reduced by exemptions, std/itemized deduction mostly and some other adjustments.

So tell me what is fair.

The current high tax bracket is 37%. Do you think that is enough or should it be 70%?

you have to look at the whole puzzle, not just one little piece, that is what liberals do.

And paying your fair share means subsidizing the sloths of society living on the government’s dole that vote Democrat.

Like I’ve told my econ students for years: “Fair is a four-letter f-word!”

You’re absolutely right, but you don’t need to qualfy it.

The current occupation government is in fact foreign.

Biden plays up his permanant “immigrant” status.

Harris isn’t even a citizen by any ordinary understanding of the term. She has maybe 4 blood relatives in this country. By contrast, there are 14000 families (not just persons) that share my lineage which goes back over 280 years.

Pelosi is “first generation” of Calabresian mafiosi who arrived in the late 20’s and immediately set out to use the government to extract cash for themselves.

Blinken, Garland (Garfinkel), Mayorkas, Haines, are all at most second generation. NONE.of them have an ancestor earlier then the 1890s. Mayorkas is simply an enemy alien - a man committing the crime of Treason by openly aiding and abetting Invasion.

It is a government of aliens. Hostile at that. You can go to South Succotash, Alabama and find more 10th generation Americans at the Piggly Wiggly then in the Capitol.
