Hah, I was right, it’s Queen Latifah, she hits the trifecta. Gay black woman.

I try to appeal to your good taste or even good sense but to no avail. I initially asked why would anyone care? When I see stupid people being washed along with whatever the media and hollyweird pronounce as good programming I am concerned. I’m just glad you’re able to be distracted and entertained by such base garbage. Bread’s too expensive and circuses have been woked to death but at least you’re covered.

I watched a new Adam Savage Tested episode (former mythbuster) on Sunday and he was at the Skywalker Ranch doing a interview about sound effects. Both he and the employee working there are sitting next to each other with no masks while the cameraman was wearing a mask...
I assume because of the rules. I have seen other stills from films where the actors have no mask and the crew are masked.

Fair enough.

America produces a lot of very talented and gifted businessmen and women. It also produces a lot of terrible businessmen and women. Yet I haven't cancelled America.

Colleges produce a lot of very talented and gifted graduates. Colleges also produces a lot of terrible graduates. Yet I haven't cancelled higher education.

The motion picture industry produces a lot of compelling entertainment. It also produces a lot of terrible entertainment. So why should we cancel this industry in toto?

In the 1980s it was fashionable to preach "divestment" of firms doing business in South Africa. In theory, the shareholders have a say in such matters. Thus, divestment was a bass ackwards idea.

It's similar with entertainment. High demand for a product creates a profit incentive. High quality entertainment begets high quality entertainment. There will ALWAYS be awful entertainment...it's been going on forever. But...Divesting oneself from entertainment takes you out of the game, thus surrendering to the enemy.

There was always good programming and bad shows. Bad writing, bad taste, bad production. The difference nowadays is you are lectured, disdained and insulted as you watch their programming, quality be damned. The vast, vast majority of what I’ve been exposed to is readily identifiable as the exact proselytizing garbage I abhor. Maybe I’ve missed a few hours of good network programing over the decades. I really don’t care. It’s not worth it. I don’t have to watch that when I’ve got thousands of actual high quality programs and movies at my fingertips. There’s a hundred years of work out there to be enjoyed, just flush the last twenty years of it.
