The first three are examples of the Victorian Gingerbread cottage style. The last one a slightly larger “cottage”.

FYI, Oak Bluffs was originally a summer Christian Methodist church revival community for Blacks. They had tent revivals and built Gingerbread Cottages around the main tent. Those cottages are very expensive now. Most are not winterized.

It still attracts a large number of Blacks.

Yes, and the beach there is known as “The Ink Well”.

It used to be where the servants who worked for the rich white people down in Edgartown lived. It was also a vacation spot for Blacks from Boston.
Martha’s Vineyard was very SEGREGATED.

I know because I bought my father in law a baseball hat from there years ago as a joke.
He is your typical 85 year old “Archie Bunker” type.

He did not know there was a beach for Black folks named “The Ink Well” either.

The only thing I bought there was a Boston Fish Club Shark contest T shirt when they still used to have the competition back in the 90’s.

Most people outside of New England do not realize that Martha's Vineyard is the island for the nou·veau riche liberals. Where as the really rich old money/Wall Street/conservative people go to Nantucket.

Yep, I know two Wall Streeters who bought houses on Nantucket.Once stayed there in a house down the street from Kerry's old house, rented for $25k a week. A Goldman Saks guy who rented it couldn't go and gave it to his assistant and told her to invite friends. I was a friend of a friend.

At least it wasn’t one of those stupid “Black Dog” sweatshirts
that EVERYONE buys on MV.
Although, it is a great marketing ploy for the bar.

Maybe they should rename the bar “The Golden Doodle” because that is what all the stupid liberal yuppies buy now for a dog.

Funny, I only know one Goldman Sachs guy. He bought a place on Nantucket about 25 years ago. Back when a fixer upper was $600K. Their main house was in Darien, CT. During covid he was working from the island.

They were thinking about selling the CT house. He was getting close to retirement. I was just thinking about him a couple weeks ago when GS said they wanted everyone back in the office. He used to take the train into Grand Central from CT to the office on Park Ave.

Exactly the Inkwell Beach reunion. Is historic to MV and many other resort areas.
