I worked in Chicago for years. Watched more than a few shootouts around halsted on the south side. Lived in the Florida panhandle for years now. I’d bet on the Florida swamp people any day.

About 10 years ago I sat on a jury here in N Fla. for one of three charged with simple burglary, no weapons involved and the home owner wasn’t even home.....it was a slam dunk case obvious he was guilty........the judge gave him FIFTEEN years.....ince that seemed pretty stiff I imagine this wasn’t dudes first rodeo in the justice system.....however, THAT’S how you deter crime.

8 hours of training, pass a 21 foot shooting test(easy), pay the fees(too expensive) and you get your permit in about 8 weeks or so.
It’s a “shall issue” system.
