How many call Irving stupid yet lack the courage to give up what he did for principle?

I put my pension and job on the line, but ultimately prevailed (so far at least, but now I am past retirement age so I can retire and get pension at least). I admire any and all who put their convictions ahead of finances; it was not easy at all. I was pressured by family, friends, co-workers to cave in, but I refused.

I was shocked how many people who I thought were strong and had great integrity ultimately caved out of fear of losing their job, their home, their pension. I credit my faith-- to accept and be complicit in coercing medical procedures on people against their will is evil and no one can convince me otherwise. I trusted that doing what was right by God was far more important than my comfort, my home or even my life.

The greatest irony in all of this to me is that because I have been tested weekly throughout and received anti-body testing as well, I KNOW that I have never had the virus, despite being in the office with no breaks and having dozens of known exposures (I never cared, I spent days with folks who were sick with it in close quarters). Everyone who caved and got the vax that I know has had COVID multiple times, so what was the point of it all really?

Excellent post.

I follow basketball more than most here. The pressure from the press, the NBA, fans, teammates, and other athletes from other professional sports was INTENSE. He didn’t fold. And he has been vindicated. And what i love about this young man is he will not hesitate to tell people they were wrong.

Out of all the people who had their livelihoods threatened if they didn’t get the poison shot, only one put her money where her mouth was. She is a 20 year high school teacher here in sacramento CA and she quit and moved to Tampa. She took a huge paycut but said she would do it again. No one will ever force her she has to put something that hasn’t been property testing into her body.
Major kudos to anyone who had the guts to put their health over all else regardless of the consequences.

Faith was a big part but we kinda think we were “guided” to our choice and stuck to it. Luckily we didn’t have the job issue to deal with which might have made if more difficult to reach our conclusion. We never feared the CONvid. We were probably more fearful of the vax. Turns out we were probably right based on reports we’ve seen. And folks we know that have been vaxxed and boosted have also had CONvid more than once. Long term results may prove that the vax was/is way worse than the CONvid. There is no antidote for the CONvid shots. Good luck on your retirement when you make the jump.

Had you already made 10s of millions before getting to that choice? He’s getting 36 mil this year. And probably will sign a big money contract somewhere, though probably not an extension cause I don’t think he wants to be with the Nets. If he did he’d have signed an extension in the off season. That probably would have been identical to the one that came off the table when the team did the math and realized he’d only be available for 1/3 of the games. This whole “Kyrie is a hero” shtick revolves around ignoring a lot of facts on the table, and money in his bank account.

Kyrie is a nutcase, especially with his flat-Earth takes and difficulty in being coached. But give him his due. Not many would opt for principle over money, although having earned nearly $200M in NBA salary (plus his endorsement money) makes it easier to do.

Damn...I normally think most professional athletes are dumber than boxes of rocks, but this guy gets it. He's a smart young man and unafraid to tell it like it is and stand for his convictions instead of the money. Well done, Mr. Irving!

I don't have the right equipment to get pollinated. In my 20s, I was pollinator.

Not a dodge. The TRUTH. Your question is a red herring. And no he didn’t give up a lot of money, not for him. THAT’S what I’m pointing out to you.
